2026-27 Interest Meeting

Come join us for our annual Interest Meeting on September 17th at 6:00pm to kick off our upcoming season.  Learn about the Oxford MTB Team and all that is involved in being a Mountain Bike racer or parent of a racer.

We will be in the Tiered Classroom (on the bottom floor of the Media Center) at Oxford High School and look forward to seeing our veteran racers and new students eager to take on a challenge and have fun with our team.

Interest Meeting

Each season begins with an 'Interest Meeting' held at the school. It is open to all students and parents and provides a casual setting where coaches introduce the staff and explain ACA Mountain Bike racing and what to expect throughout the season. It is also a great opportunity to ask questions or voice concerns.

The meeting takes place around late September or early October and is held at Oxford High School.

The meeting for the 2026-27 season will be held at 6:00 pm on Thursday, September 17th, in the Tiered Classroom of the OHS Media Center.

Coaching Staff

Our coaching staff consists of Brian Lombardi as Head Coach and Chris Cothran as Team Director.  Coach Lombardi has many years of biking experience and coaching at the high school level.  He has served as an assistant coach with the Oxford team since its inception in 2019 and will take over as lead coach for the upcoming 2026-27 season. He and Chris are both dedicated to the kids and enjoy helping them excel in the sport.

Other coaches include many dedicated volunteers (mostly parents of the athletes) who complete proper ACA training and provide much-needed support on the trails and at race venues.

Your student will always be in good hands, supported by people who not only have the kids' best interests in mind but also share a passion for mountain biking.

All parents can become an assistant coach.  It's a great way to help the team and spend time with your child during practice. As with our kids, all skill levels are welcome for our coaching staff.

Weekday Practice

Weekday practices are generally held on Monday and Thursday. Early in the season, practices will be held in a field or on easy trails, focusing on general bike skills and getting to know the students' current abilities.

As the season progresses (and the days get longer), practices will move to more difficult trails and tailor training to each child's level.

Weekend Practice

On weekends, we practice Saturday morning at one of the trails. Typically, we meet at Coldwater or McClellan (both within 15 minutes of Oxford), but as the racing season approaches, we may venture to other venues to gain experience at the locations where the races will be held.

Race Weekend

Six scheduled race weekends will run from February through the first week of May.  These will be 3-day events with Pre-Ride on Friday, Middle School racing on Saturday, and High School racing on Sunday.  Although racing is on different days, everyone should attend both days to cheer on teammates, support them, and build camaraderie across the team.

It is a large gathering of kids and their families and promises to be an exciting time for all involved.

Family Affair

As a team, we're a close-knit group. We encourage everyone to get involved and always welcome parents, grandparents, and siblings at the races. Your support means so much to the kids, and the coaching staff really enjoys making new friends in the process.

Volunteer Coaching

We can never have too much help, and we always encourage parents to join our team as a coach.  Mountain Biking is the only High School sport where the parents can join and ride at every practice with their child.  It's a wonderful opportunity to join your kid in something they love and encourage a healthy family activity that will last a lifetime.

Making Forever Friends

Put a bunch of kids together with the same passion for biking, and there is bound to be chemistry. Being on the Mountain Biking team almost guarantees that your child will make friendships that will last well past graduation. The desire to get out on the trail will keep these special bonds strong even throughout their adult life.
